Internship Opportunities
We welcome students in many fields of study from local colleges and universities to intern with the SHIELD Mentor Program by joining a committee. Interns will have an opportunity to learn non-profit management
principles and will work directly with the Executive Director. Interns are vital to us and we greatly value their contributions. Internships are individually tailored to meet each intern’s needs, talents, and interests. We will work out the specifics of your internship with you.
Background Checks: SHIELD reserves the right to conduct a background
check on Mentors at any time. This includes a
National Criminal Check, a National Sex Offender Check and an
Identification Verification.
On-going Training and Support: SHIELD
takes pride in its support and training of our volunteers. We provide
comprehensive initial training as well as monthly volunteer meetings to support the mentoring relationship. Each volunteer will attend a monthly volunteer staff meeting as well as on-going trainings, when needed or requested.
